Welcome to SEC Roughriders!

Prepare to be inspired at the award-winning SEC Roughriders Toastmasters club where members learn to craft informative, creative, and entertaining speeches. Although members vary in age, profession, and skill level, they share a desire to improve their public speaking ability and confidence. Everyone is welcome to attend our Thursday meetings at the New York City Bar Association. Professional business attire is required.

This club promotes a professional yet nurturing atmosphere with each meeting following a consistent agenda. Attendees are first asked a series of questions ("Table Topics") to help hone their impromptu speaking skills. The next section of the program is a set of 3 or 4 prepared speeches by SEC Roughriders members. These presentations are then assessed by evaluators, and a Master Evaluator reviews both the evaluators and the meeting as a whole. The set format of these weekly meetings gives members a chance to develop speaking skills in a safe environment.

SEC Roughriders meetings are held every Thursday except holidays. Buffet lunch is served at 12 noon, and speakers give their presentations from 12:30 to 2 PM. The New York City Bar Association Building is located at 42 West 44th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues. The Roughriders meet on the main floor, and there is a $15 fee to help offset the costs of the buffet lunch and facility rental.
