Guest speaker at meeting

Fellow SEC Roughriders,
First, I'd like to thank Jerry Wolf for the footwork he did to arrange such a superb guest speaker today. Thank you!
For those who missed the meeting, our guest today was Bob Lehrman. Mr. Lehrman's resume is long and impressive. He's currently an Adjunct Associate Professor at American University; in his past he was the former chief speechwriter for Vice President Al Gore and Senator Lloyd Bentsen. He's also the author of The Political Speechwriter’s Companion.

This was one of the most instructive Roughrider meetings I've ever attended. Mr. Lehrman told us his theory behind giving a political speech, his ideas on properly crafting a speech to the intended audience, and how we can all improve our speechwriting skills. I know when I write my next speech I'll be thinking about some of the speechwriting rules he mentioned today.
To my friends who missed the meeting: you missed a good one today.

Speech Writing Workshop

Dear Roughriders:
From time to time, SEC Roughriders plans special meetings such as SIRA Club and Evaluation Workshops.
In a continued effort to provide the membership with ways to improve our public speaking skills, Jerry Wolf has developed and arranged for a special Speech Writing Workshop, in conjunction with the board.
We will have a special guest speaker, Robert (Bob) Lehrman, joining us on Thursday, July 22nd, 2010 at our regular time. Bob will deliver a speech related to speech writing and presentations, as well as answer questions from the membership. His information is below.
